Repeat After Me gets lost in the story.

Repeat After Me was written by Jessica Warman and puts you through a trip as you read it. I read this as a digital ARC>

I have no idea how to explain this book. I read it and was confused throughout the entire book. I felt compelled to finish because of how weird the story is. It starts with a cryptic message to one of the main characters before she goes on her senior trip. It all goes sideways after that. Each chapter is from the point of view of the people on the trip. You read about teenage angst things and how the people on the island are trying to grow up and figure themselves out. As the book progresses, it comes out that 3 of the main characters are actually in a time loop due to the owners of the island. Gus and Greta are trying to figure out how to have immortality and it throws everything out of wack. The kids who are stuck in this time loop just kinda try to figure out how to get out of it. The antics they partake in are odd.

Emma takes the main stage in this story. I struggled to completely keep track of all the stories Jessica put in the book. I honestly was not a fan of the book. I finished because I felt like I had to. Bradd drives me insane as well as Auggie. I understand that is the point, but I think she took Bradd’s antics a little too far. If she writes another book, I doubt I will read it. She lost everyone when it came to how to fix the time loop. The main storyline was all over the place.
