Leia Stone and Julie Hall wrote Cold Hearted. and their collaboration resulted in a wonderful story of enemies to lovers among other fun twists. Cold Hearted is about a young princess who is fated to try to save her people. To do this she has to cross realms and bring back the black heart of a young ruler. Princess Dawn has trained her whole life to be prepared for her task. Of course, everything goes awry as soon as she begins her quest. She is out to find Lord Roan and cut out his heart. As she begins her journey to find him, the ways she sees this realm have her questioning if what she is supposed to do is actually what she has to do to save her realm. The man she forces to help her is
Zander, who happens to be the commander of the entire northern army. Their time together has them learning more about the realms and how to work together to do what is best for the people.
I love how Zander refers to Dawn as “little bird”. I can’t place what it is, but it makes me smile. I couldn’t put it down. Julie and Leia worked great together creating the world. The small details they gave added so much to the story. These ladies gave the characters growing room. It was more than one of the main characters who grew. I appreciate that in a story. I can’t wait until the next one to come out. The authors gave such a great lead into the next book.
I don’t want to spoil anything, but I do struggle with why the princesses are not allowed to accept their fated mates. I do enjoy fated mates! Cold Hearted is a wonderful book. I can’t recommend it enough! Pick this book up and read it! 5 out of 5 stars.
