At First Spite nailed it!

Hello!

Another review coming at you! I was part of a digital ARC reading group, but the review is all me. I grew to love Olivia Dade when I stumbled upon Spoiler Alert, the first in her Spoiler Alert Series. I was drawn to the blurb about a plus-sized woman thriving in her environment. I have grown curvy after my kids and I am struggling to accept it at times. Spoiler Alert was wonderful and opened my eyes to books that embrace women like me. At First Spite did not disappoint.

At First Spite starts with Athena at her engagement party, taking a break from the festivities. She meets people important to her future husband. He is a pediatrician in a small town, Harlot’s Bay. She plans on giving her career up to move to be with him. She knows his brother is adamant they not get married. He has some strong opinions on how Athena has lived her life. Johnny doesn’t care about her past. She mingles around the party to get to the table with all the deliciousness. She found the potatoes and noticed a gentleman next to her. They bonded and laughed. She ended up shortly finding out it was Johnny’s brother. Fast forward and she finds herself in Harlot’s Bay jobless and in a tiny home in which she has to pay the mortgage. She realizes Matthew lives extremely close and sparks fly.

Olivia did it again. I couldn’t put it down. Her writing and character development are on point. I was immediately drawn to Athena and felt like her character had a great developmental arc throughout the entire book. Matthew also has things to work through that make him seem human in his troubles. I connected with Athena’s troubles since I feel what she is going through.

Pick this book up soon. And plan a weekend. You will not want to put it down.

You will not regret this book!

Until Next Time
